Kuantan is famous for it beach side resorts which are always filled with people especially in the evenings where most would come here for an evening walk as well as tourists who throng the beaches for a splash in the seas.

Teluk Chempedak is one of the most famous seasides in Malaysia. located about 5 kilometers from Kuantan, here you will experience the east coast sea waves very different from those over in the west. A variety of water sports are available for a nominal fee. Water scooters, paragliding and kite flying are some of the common favourites here.


The beachside of Teluk Chempedak also include some food outlets here including a beachside McDonalds' where you can buy an ice-cream and walk along the beach. Take note of the smaller stalls here that sells a lot of local arts and crafts which can be very interesting. There is also a small canopy –like walk at the far end of the beach where you can take pictures and walk further alike.

A mini zoo is located in Taman Teruntum while Pulau Ular is a nearby island. About 40 kilometers away is Sungai Lembing, the world's largest tin mining shafts. there is also a mining museum here where you can find out more about the history of tin mining and such. Once there, you can take a walk up Bukit Panorama to get a great view of the sunrise, this of course means you have to get there in the wee hours of the morning.

You can also look into the Nine Mile Waterfalls or also known as Berkelah Falls which is near the airfield in Kuantan, the Royal Malaysian Air Force base. Taman Gelora, not far from the city center is a park where you can see a lot of activities like dancing, volleyball and jogging from the local folks in amidst some very beautiful lotus garden.

Shopping - For shoppers, you can be sure to find that there are many malls here that sell branded goods as well as local produce. The Berjaya Megamall is located in the heart of the city where you can be find Parkson, the anchor tenant and a few hundred retailers as well. Fast food outlets here are also available from Kenny Roger's, McDonalds and KFC.

A new mall that just opened would be East Coast Mall, which is now the biggest one in Kuantan. Hypermaket operator Carrerfour and Parkson are the anchor tenants here. you can also shop around Kuantan Parade, Mahkota Square and Kuantan Plaza.
